[ARCHIVED] UPDATES TO TOWN WATER RATES

Water

In 2020 the Town studied how we charge for water and wastewater services for the first time in 20 years.

With the help of a 10-member Citizen Review Committee (CRC) composed of a broad cross-section of residents, the CRC studied and discussed reports from consultants and made recommendations to change water rates starting July 1, 2021, which Town Council approved.

Before this, local water rates were among the lowest in the state, and over the next ten years an investment of approximately $24M in infrastructure will be needed to keep the Town's systems functioning well and protect the environment we love.

The new rate structure is designed to promote conservation and water efficiency and to be affordable, predictable, and fair.

A residential customer using around 5,000 gallons of water monthly will actually see their bill go down. A neighbor who is not efficient with their water and uses 20,000 gallons monthly will see their bill increase.

For more information about what to expect and how your bill will be calculated going forward please see the Town of Jackson's 2020 Water Rates, Wastewater Rates, and Capacity Fee Study below.   At the bottom of this document you will find Frequently Asked Questions.
