MEMORIAL DAY
WHEREAS, the Jackson American Legion Post No. 43 celebrates Memorial Day on May 31, 2021 with other veterans of war and American citizens here in Jackson, and around the nation; and,
WHEREAS, our great country was built and endures in great part through the personal sacrifices and service of selfless individuals and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in their service to this nation; and,
WHEREAS, let us, on this occasion, deeply appreciate the great privileges of freedom and liberty and be mindful of the responsibilities that come with these privileges; and,
WHEREAS, the men and women deployed at home and abroad remind us that there are people today who attempt to deprive us of our freedom and undermine our nation’s very foundation of “Liberty for All”; and,
WHEREAS, the strength of our nation is evidenced not only in the men and women of our military, but also in the strength and commitment of the families of those who serve; and,
WHEREAS, we must remember every day to give thanks and to honor those whose blood has been spilled so that we may enjoy our many blessings.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Hailey Morton Levinson, as Mayor for the Town of Jackson, do hereby commemorate and observe this Memorial Day by urging everyone to remember those who have lost their lives in service to our country, together with their families, and to say a prayer of thanks for all those who have served.
DATED THIS 31st day of MAY, 2021.
