NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES TO TOWN OF JACKSON
 BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL

Jackson, Wyo. February 11, 2021 – Historically, the Town of Jackson’s Finance Department mailed notifications for annual business license renewals in a paper format. This year, due to budget cuts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and to better align with the Town’s stewardship and conservation goals to reduce, reuse, and recycle, the Town’s Finance Department issued notifications for business license renewals solely by email in October and again in December of 2020.

Due to this change in the notification format, the Town of Jackson is aware that some business license holders did not receive the renewal notification. Title 5.12.090 of the Jackson Municipal Code states that “It is the duty of each licensee to renew and maintain a valid license.” The Municipal Code goes on to state that “(p)rovided, that a failure to send out such notice or the failure of the licensee to receive it shall not excuse the licensee from a failure to obtain a new license, or a renewal thereof, nor shall it be a defense in an action for operation without a license.”

Due to the change in notification format, this year the Town will waive late fees for business license renewals that are received before February 28, 2021. In addition, the Town will refund any business license late fees collected prior to February 28, 2021.

After February 28, 2021, late fees for business license renewals will be assessed according to the Town of Jackson’s Code and late fee waivers will not be granted. Moving forward, all future notifications for business license renewals will be sent electronically through email communication and late fee waivers will not be granted.

Business license holders are able to submit renewal payments online, by mail (Town of Jackson Finance Department P.O. Box 1687 Jackson, Wyoming 83001) or in person at Town Hall located at 150 East Pearl Avenue. Individuals with questions about Town of Jackson business license renewal fees can call the Finance Director, Kelly Thompson, at (307) 734-3482.
