"This is Our Town"

Johnny Ziem, Assistant Public Works Director for the Town of Jackson, joined Del Ray on KJAX (93.5 FM) on Wednesday morning to talk about winter plowing and snow removal in Jackson this winter. Listen in to this week's edition of "This is Our Town." CLICK HERE to listen to the interview.

This is always a great topic to discuss as we brace for the winter snow fall.

Plowing Program Level of Service:

Please understand that the timing of the service provided for all areas will be dependent on the severity and duration of each snow event.

Streets:  For all streets, Public Works Staff will strive to complete plowing prior to 8 a.m. during a snow cycle.  Our goal is to provide efficient and effective plowing of all streets and corridors prior to 8 a.m.

Alleyways:  For alleyways, Public Works Staff will complete plowing of this asset later in the day/shift for each snow cycle and event, regardless of the day it occurs.  In order of priority, we will plow alleyways to provide access over hauling and removing of snow.

Parking Lots:  For Parking Lots, Public Works Staff will strive to complete this prior to 8 a.m., as the public begins parking in the public lots about that time.  Staff expects to complete Parking Lots after all snowplow zones (streets) have been plowed, then all plow operators can work together to finish all Parking Lots.  Again, in order of priority, we will plow parking lots to provide access prior to hauling and removing snow.

Please remember to keep the sidewalk in front of your business or residence shoveled this winter.   Also, if there is a fire hydrant near your home or place of work, please keep this free from snow and accessible throughout the winter months!

Each Wednesday morning at 8:30 a representative from the Town of Jackson goes on the air with Del Ray to discuss important topics for our community!
