Teton Pass Scheduled to Close at 10:00 PM for Avalanche Mitigation
Jackson, Wyo. February 25, 2019 - The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WDOT) has issued a press release indicating that Teton Pass/WY 22 is scheduled to close at 10:00 PM on Monday, February 25, 2019 for avalanche mitigation.
There is a possibility that Teton Valley commuter bus services for Tuesday, February 26, 2019 may be impacted. START Bus recommends all commuter riders to keep an eye out on the upcoming weather and stay connected through WYDOT information and with START Bus through the Rider Alert feature on the www.startbus.com home page
According to WYDOT’s press release “reduced visibility, winter driving conditions, and increasing avalanche hazard may force an earlier closure. Significant winter weather is currently impacting the region. As such, expect potential additional road closures as well as extended closures over the next several days. No parking between the Idaho State Line and the closure gate above Wilson, WY will be strictly enforced, beginning at 6pm tonight. Highway travelers and backcountry users are advised to plan accordingly.”
START Bus Director, Darren Brugmann, has indicated that he would be evaluating road closures, weather and road conditions as the evening progresses. He indicated that the START Rider Alert would have the most up-to-date information on the commuter bus status. Passengers can now easily sign up for START Rider Alerts. These alerts will immediately notify the rider if a bus stop is closed, if a road becomes closed, or a specific route is impacted. It's easy and only takes a minute to do.
