Some say that Jackson has two seasons: winter and construction. With plenty of projects underway throughout Town, our Public Works department worked to develop an Ordinance and Construction Management Checklist with requirements for builders and developers. On Monday, July 10 Town Council approved a new ordinance, requiring developers to have Construction Management plans, approved by Public Works, for projects that encroach on the public right of way.
Town Council and the Public Works team also realize that while construction may be inevitable, the degree it impacts neighbors can be helped. When Town staff first presented about this to Town Council last February, there were seven cranes working on different projects, which is more than ever before. Given this much construction, Town engineers have been working with developers for years to streamline and standardize oversight and help notify neighbors, minimize distrubances, and preempt complaints. The Town hopes the Construction Management Cheklist linked below provides solid perspective on the entire construction process and, ideally, helps everyone understand requirements and improve the process for all involved.
