RESIDENTAL YARD WASTE

*Free compostable yard waste bags available starting April 25 at the following locations

  • Town Hall - 150 East Pearl
  • Public Works Administrative Building - 450 West Snow King Avenue
  • Teton County Recycling Center (ISWR) - 3270 Adams Canyon Drive


COMMUNITY TRASH CLEAN-UP

    Participants wishing to volunteer are asked to meet at either Phil Baux Park or at the Old Wilson School House

2022 SPRING CLEAN UP & BURN WEEK

WHEREAS, we are all caretakers of our community and continually strive to make Jackson Hole a great place to live, work and play; and 

WHEREAS, this valley is rich with opportunities for improving our scenic beauty and at the same time attending to our sustainability and;

WHEREAS, we are fortunate to able to take advantage of sustainability programs including food scrap and composting programs, green energy alternatives, and waste reduction and recycling initiatives; and  

WHEREAS, we can all work together to preserve the earth’s beauty and resources; and         

WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Jackson Hole has organized a Spring Clean Up on May 14th where community volunteers help to clean up the town; and,

WHEREAS, Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling also participates in Spring Clean Up by encouraging town residents to compost their yard waste and by providing citizens free compostable yard waste bags to do so; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson Hole Community Spring Clean-Up has been an annual tradition since 1969; and,

WHEREAS, the residential yard waste collected during the Spring Clean Up last year diverted 82 tons of organics from our waste stream; and,  

WHEREAS, it is customary in the spring of each year to declare a burn week for citizens of the Town of Jackson to act responsibly, and at all times control their burns including only dry grass, leaves, twigs, small branches, and clean wood.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Hailey Morton Levinson, Mayor of the Town of Jackson do hereby proclaim Community Spring Clean-Up Week to be Monday, May 9th through Saturday, May 14thand

FURTHER, I declare Spring Clean Up Volunteer Day as May 14th and encourage all citizens to participate in this important rite of spring here in Jackson Hole, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club who graciously organizes volunteers to clean up our community, and; 

FURTHER, I declare that Town of Jackson Public Works will provide free yard waste drop off at the Teton County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 13th to remove residential yard waste between 9am and 6pm. Residents wishing to participate are urged to follow composting guidelines by only using the paper yard waste bags or reusable cans or bins, as plastic bags will not be accepted.

FURTHER, I declare Spring Burn Week to be Saturday, May 7th through Sunday, May 15th and remind any residents wishing to participate in burn week, that before you strike that match, to call the Jackson Hole Law Enforcement Agency at 733-2331 first.
