Join in the World's Largest Earthquake Drill!

Teton County Emergency Managemement is inviting all community members to take part in an earthquake preparedness drill at 10:21am.

On 10/21 at 10:21am, participants are are asked to practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On wherever they are so they know what to do during an actual earthquake.

Participation is meant to be easy and flexible, so you can do your drill at a different date and/or time if that works better for you.

Here are the components you should include in your drill, at minimum:

1. Make sure everyone (at home or in the office) knows the scheduled date and time for the drill, and how to properly Drop, Cover, and Hold On.

2. Appoint someone to be in charge of notification. At the pre-determined time, announce via the public announcement system, email, cell phone/text message, or verbal direction: "The earthquake drill has begun. Drop, Cover, and Hold On."

While down on the floor, people look around at what would be falling on them in a real earthquake. These items should be secured or moved after the drill.

3. After at least one minute, announce that the shaking is over and that everyone can stand up again.

4. Have each person note the location of the two exits nearest to them, as well as the closest fire extinguisher.
